Music was my first love..
That surely counts for me…!!!
My name is Audrey Smits and I am working hard for many years as a succesfull
singer/performer.
Music is my life, through music you can talk to people, reach them, you can let
them feel and experience the things you want to say……..
I started ,like may others, in a church choir and was a conductor myself.
After these experiences, I auditioned to join the international group “Up with
people”. This is a group of 150 young people from 22 different countries,
travelling around the world for a year.
With this cast I travelled ( to present The Netherlands ) through the whole
world with the purpose to bring people together from many different cultures and
backgrounds and let them get toknow each other by working together as volunteers
and stay in host families. The cast performs a 3 hour musical in every city they
stay in. The songs they sing are in the language of the country they are at.
After my year as a student, i worked for “Up With People” as a vocalinstructor
and later on as “productionsupport “ I worked and trained about 150 students.
When I was in the USA with “ Up with people ” I got to know “country music” real
good. I was immediately hooked up on it. I have seen that country is significant
and meaningful and not old fashion as many people think. People like Trisha
Yearwood, Faith Hill, the Dixie Chicks became favourites of mine. These singers
are replacing the current country back on the map. When I came back to The
Netherlands I started next to my allround repertoire also with the genre
“country”.
With pleasure I worked on many different big projects. ( with cooperation from
big dutch names as Corry Konings, Saskia en Serge, Albert West.) I gave also my
cooperation on a beautiful dutch christmas collection cd.
I had special and very extra ordinary shows with people like for example
Margriet Eshuis, Jan Keijzer , Bonnie St Clair en Koos Alberts.
I am also proud to tell you I have two solo albums on my name called:
- VIVID
- AUDROMIA
there are covers on the albums, but also songs i have written myself. You can
listen to some samplers on my site .
I perform on festivals, private parties, marriages , dancing evenings, gala’s
etc.
In 2005 they asked me , to participate in a small , with care selected
international group to perform on the EXPO in Japan and give shows and work in
Thailand on places where the tsunami hit the country. That left a big impression
on me….and I’ve learned a lot about it.
I felt and have seen that it doesn’t matter if you don’t speak eachother’s
language but that music can bring people closer to eachother.!!
I hope I can continue singing and performing and let people hear my voice and
music. Maybe with one of my songs, i can make a difference in someone’s life .
That’s what counts……….and why i love music so much ………..I hope to give people
pleasure, emotion and enjoyment with my music.
